Charles Lorenzo Flanders

This photograph was taken November 20th, 1939 just a few months before his death.  He was 78 years old.

Charles Lorenzo Flanders was born November 20th, 1861 in Chicago, Illinois,the seventh of the eleven children of Charles Clark Flanders and Isabella Walmsley.  He died January 18th, 1940 in Breckenridge, Texas

His poetry falls into several categories that are listed below and the links there will take you to these poems.  Most of these were written in the mid 1880's when Flanders was in his twenties.

Dids't thou wish for certain pleasures

Certain joys and seeming treasures

Hast thou heart e'er been on fire

      With the hope such thoughts inspire
